ALEV

Three rings of heat. One ember that shows it. Free, forever · VST3 and AU on macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) · VST3 on Windows.

“Alev” is Turkish for flame. ALEV splits the sound at 200 Hz and 3 kHz and heats each part on its own: turn a steel ring and that band saturates, from a faint warmth to a dense, driven sound. The ember in the centre is the only light on the unit and shows the heat of all three bands, breathing with the music.

Heat, not loudness

Each ring is loudness-matched: turning one band from 0 to 100 changes the loudness of pink noise by less than 0.1 LU, so what you hear is the saturation, not a louder signal. The output never passes −1 dBTP.

Clean at any heat

The saturation runs 8 times oversampled with antiderivative anti-aliasing: with HIGH at 100, a 10 kHz tone leaves no fold-back above −85 dBc. DRY/WET is phase-coherent, so blending in the dry signal never thins the sound.

Rings that move together

Three pushers on the case set how the rings move. FREE: each on its own. LINK: the heat spreads to the neighbouring bands, each step 30 % behind (turn HIGH and MID follows, then LOW). GANG: all three turn together.
